Meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Association of Municipalities Thermal Springs Greece in Queen Olga Hotel
The meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs took place at the QUEEN OLGA hotel in Thessaloniki, on Friday 9/10/2015. Representatives of the 54 municipalities – members of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs participated in the BOD, as well as Mr. Dimitris Mardas, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The alternate minister of Tourism Mrs. Elena Kountoura was represented by Mrs. Persefoni Trixa, Head of the Regional Authority for Tourism in Macedonia – Thrace. Mr. Terzakis Giorgos, CEO of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund – Public Properties Company, was represented by Mrs. Tsitsogianopoulou Evagelia.
Following Mr. Giannis Karagiannis’s, the president of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs, speech, Mr. Mardas noted that his presence in the BOD of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs marks the interest of the government for the spa industry. He highlighted that the necessary investments for the spa infrastructure are now feasible and, in fact, lots of investors have already shown interest. He stressed that “We have to bring about the necessary changes in the legislative framework as soon as possible, so that we can move on from there”.
Mrs. Tsitsogianopoulou, who represented the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, underlined the need for cooperation between the municipalities and the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund in two areas: firstly, for the operators of the thermal springs that are under the jurisdiction of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund and secondly for the future investments that the municipalities are putting forward. She promised that the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund can help every municipality by providing their expertise regarding future biddings for cooperation with private investors.
