The Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs was awarded with a special prize in the tourist exhibition PHILOXENIA 2015
The Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs participated in this year’s PHILOXENIA with great success. A lot of politicians, staff belonging to the tourist industry and other related companies, representatives of organizations and bodies and thousands of visitors stopped by the pavilion of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs and were informed about the high quality of the Curative Natural Resources and about the different services – hydrotherapy, clay therapy, inhalation therapy, thalassotherapy, mineral water drinking therapy – that the curative springs of the our country offer. Visitors, also, had the chance to participate in a lottery in order to win hydrotherapy services offered by the operators of the curative springs.
In the pavilion of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs participated 23 municipalities, 28 curative springs and more than 50 municipal and private enterprises, who were able to promote their advertising material, posters, dvds, videos and tourist offers. The management of Thessaloniki International Fair rewarded the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs with a special prize for its presence in PHILOXENIA, which was accepted by Mr. Kepaptsoglou, the mayor of Argos Orestiko.
On Friday 13th Novermber, during PHILOXENIA, the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs held a meeting that was attended by Mrs. Kountoura, alternate minister of Tourism for issues concerning tourism and by Mrs. Kollia – Tsarouxa, undersecretary of Internal Affairs and Administrative Reform (for Macedonia – Thrace). The marketing program or the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs for the upcoming months was presented in the meeting. The municipality of Arta was accepted as the 55th member of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs and the mayor, Mr. Xristos Tsirogiannis made a short speech.
Mrs Kollia – Tsarouxa, who stands by the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs and its members since the beginning, stressed that “we should not miss the chance to extend the tourist period, through the curative springs”. Mrs Kountoura highlighted that the reopening of the Committee for the Protection of Curative Natural Resources was only a matter of few days. She also noted that she tries to cooperate with the alternate minister for the Environment Mr. Tsironis in order to extend the deadline for the submission of the recognition files of the natural resources, something that interests more than 30 curative resources.
The success of the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs in PHILOXENIA is added to the constant efforts for openness: during the previous months, the Hellenic Association of Municipalities with Thermal Springs participated in the tourist exhibition “World Travel Market” in London and in the general assembly of the European Historic Thermal Town Association in Bursa. These two actions helped the curative springs of our country approach the way Europe handles Health Tourism and showed that the quality of the Greek curative natural resources can add value in our country’s economy.
