Ikaria, in the Aegean Archipelago, is one of the most famous destinations for the care of human physical and mental health. The numerous hot and superheated springs around the capital of the island, Agios Kirykos, are globally known for their radioactive water. Healthy climate, good and healthy nutrition, serene people. The curative use of Ikaria springs is known from the 4^th century B.C. Therma (ancient Therma) was a center for hydrotherapy, mentioned in a lot of historic texts; this is also proved by the archaeological findings, ancient baths and facilities, like the ancient Roman baths of the 1^st century B.C. There are also other hot curative springs, for example Kratsa, Pamfili In Therma and Agios Kirykos.

Curative Water

Ikaria has the following curative springs:

Asclepius Saline Spring

The temperature of the water is 40^oC

Characterisation: Meteoric and sea water- Superheated hypertonic Na-Cl-K-B highly radioactive curative water of the saline spring of Asclepius Agiou Kirykou of the municipality of Ikaria.

Agia Kyriaki Saline Spring

The temperature of the water is 37^oC. Characterisation: Hot hypertonic Na-Cl-K-B moderately radioactive curative water of Agia Kyriaki saline spring of the municipality of Ikaria .

Apollonas Thermon Saline Spring

The temperature of the water is 47,8^oC. Characterisation: Superheated hypertonic Na-Cl-K-B highly radioactive curative water of the Apollonas Thermon saline spring of the municipality of Ikaria.

Thermo Lefkadas Saline Spring

The temperature of the water is 58^oC. Characterisation: Superheated hypertonic Na-Cl-K-B slightly radioactive curative water of the Thermo Lefkadas saline spring of municipality of Ikaria.

Spilaio Saline Spring

The temperature of the water is 54^oC. Superheated hypertonic Na-Cl-K-B moderately radioactive curative water of the Spilaio saline spring of the municipality of Ikaria.

Health thermalism facilities

In the Asclepius baths in Agios Kirykos, the hydrotherapy centre has 14 individual tubs. In the baths of Spilaio Thermon, with the curative spring gushing from the inside part, visitors can take care of their health in the natural perspiration cave, which has two group jaccuzi tubs. The hydrotherapy centre in Therma has 26 individual tubs.
